Navigating Between Backroom Levels
Understanding Level Structure
The Backrooms aren't a single space—they're a network of interconnected zones. Each level has distinct visual themes and hazards. Level 0 is your entry point, but many other levels exist, from the habitable zones to the pitch-black depths.
Finding Level Transitions
Movement between levels happens through exploration:
- Look for doorways, holes, and structural breaks in walls and floors
- Descend or ascend through vertical shafts and passages
- Follow environmental clues: different wall colors, flooring types, and lighting changes often mark level boundaries
- Some levels like Pitch Black (Level 6) require careful navigation due to darkness
- Pitfalls is a hazard zone—watch for sudden drops
Survival Tips
- Bring torches or light sources for darker levels
- Move cautiously near edges; fall damage is real
- Some levels like the Endless Ocean present unique environmental challenges
- The Hotel and Abandoned Offices contain more structured layouts—easier to navigate but potentially more disorienting
There's no map; exploration and memory are your tools.
