How to Stop Illagers From Spawning With Armor

Why You Might Want This

Armored pillagers and vindicators can turn a routine raid into a nightmare, especially early game. If you want the mod installed but prefer vanilla-style unarmored Illagers, you can disable armor spawning through the mod's configuration.

Disabling Armor Spawning

1. Launch Minecraft once with the mod installed so the config file is generated.

2. Close the game and open your instance's config folder.

3. Locate the config file belonging to Illagers Wear Armor (it will be named after the mod).

4. Open it with a plain text editor.

5. Find the option that controls armor spawning for Illagers. Toggle it off (usually false).

6. If the config lists individual Illager types (pillager, vindicator, evoker, illusioner), you can disable armor per mob instead of globally.

7. Save the file and relaunch the game.

Verifying the Change

Summon or encounter a raid and confirm Illagers spawn without armor. If they still appear armored, double-check you edited the correct config file for the correct mod loader profile. Note that some configs only apply to newly spawned mobs, so existing Illagers in loaded chunks may keep their gear until they despawn or the chunk reloads.
