Understanding Flight Mechanics

Wings in this mod function as an extension of the base Icarus system. You must be falling or airborne to activate flight—you cannot take off from solid ground. Once airborne, your wings deploy and allow sustained flight as long as you manage your resources properly.

Efficient Flying Techniques

To extend your flight time, avoid constant climbing. Instead, glide downward gently while moving forward, then climb when necessary. This mimics real wing physics and conserves energy. Use terrain features like mountains and cliffs to gain altitude without relying solely on wing power.

Directional Control

Use your standard movement keys (WASD) to steer while flying. Look up to climb, look down to descend, and strafe left or right to turn. Practice in safe areas like above water or in creative mode to get comfortable with the controls before attempting dangerous flights.

Landing Safely

Approach solid ground gradually by descending slowly. Avoid diving straight down, as you may take fall damage. Land on flat surfaces when possible, and always have an escape plan if you're flying over hazardous terrain like lava or deep water.
