Set Up Your First Advanced Energy Storage Unit
Choosing Your Storage Tier
IC2 Additions provides several energy storage blocks beyond the standard MFSU. Start with the Plasmatron or Auraton if you're transitioning from mid-game machines. These hold significantly more EU than older storage blocks and accept higher voltage inputs without exploding.
Installation and Connection
1. Craft or obtain your chosen storage unit
2. Place it in your factory near your power generation (reactors, solar arrays, or kinetic generators)
3. Connect it to your EU network using insulated copper cable or higher-tier cables
4. Attach machines that need power to the same network—the storage unit will charge when generation exceeds demand and discharge when machines need power
5. Use a multimeter to verify the storage unit is receiving and storing power
Scaling Up
As your factory grows, link multiple storage units together in parallel. They'll balance charge levels automatically. For late-game bases, the Quantum or
Photon storage blocks provide massive capacity and can handle extreme power throughput, letting you run dozens of machines simultaneously without brownouts.
