Set Up Your First Advanced Energy Storage System
Choosing Your Storage Tier
IC2 Additions provides four tiers of energy storage blocks beyond the standard MFSU. Start with the Plasmatron if your base generates moderate power, or jump to the Auraton if you're running multiple machines simultaneously. The Quantum and
Photon blocks are for late-game bases with massive power demands.
Installation and Connection
Place your chosen storage block near your power generation (reactors, solar panels, or kinetic generators). Connect it to your power network using HV cables or higher—lower-tier cables will bottleneck your charging speed. Link your machines to the storage block using the appropriate cable tier; the storage block will distribute power automatically to connected devices.
Ensure your power generation output matches or exceeds your machine consumption, or your storage will slowly drain. Monitor the storage block's GUI to track current charge level and input/output rates. If you're upgrading from an MFSU, you can safely remove it once your new storage is charged—no power is lost during the transition.
For maximum efficiency, dedicate separate cable lines for input (from generators) and output (to machines) to avoid bottlenecks.
