Master RTS Mode Controls and Hotkeys
Entering RTS Mode
RTS mode gives you a bird's-eye view of the battlefield, essential for controlling large armies. Activate it using the designated keybind (check your controls settings). From this view, you can see all your soldiers, terrain, and enemies at once.
Using Hotkeys and Groups
Assign your soldiers to numbered hotkey groups so you can quickly switch between them during battle. Select a group, then press a number key to save it. Later, press that same number to instantly select that group again. This is crucial for managing multiple unit types—keep archers separate from cavalry, for example.
Shift-Based Commands
Hold Shift while giving orders to queue multiple commands. This lets soldiers complete one task, then automatically move to the next location or target. Use this to create attack patterns or defensive positions without micromanaging every movement.
Formation Control
While a group is selected, you can arrange them into different formations. Experiment with line formations for archers, wedge formations for cavalry charges, and defensive squares when surrounded. Different formations have different strengths against various enemy types.
