Set Up a Fast Item Sorting System with Multi-Hoppers

Choose Your Hopper Tier

Decide how fast you need items to move. Diamond hoppers (10 items/second) work well for most farms, while Netherite hoppers (20 items/second) handle massive mob grinders. Copper hoppers are ideal if you're using redstone clocks nearby, since they ignore redstone locking.

Build Your Layout

1. Place a multi-hopper or multi-hupper as your central hub

2. Position separate chests or containers around it in the directions you want items to go

3. Connect your item source (farm, grinder, or conveyor) to the top of the multi-hopper

Configure Output Directions

Grab a wrench and right-click the multi-hopper to toggle which sides output items. Each direction you enable will receive items in a round-robin pattern, distributing your loot evenly.

Add Filtering (Optional)

If using Golden tier or higher, right-click again with the wrench to access filtering options. Set up item filters to send specific materials to specific chests—diamonds to one direction, cobblestone to another.
