How to Survive Mob-Heavy Mineshaft Rooms
Some Hopo Better Mineshaft room types are built around mobs, including spawners. These rooms punish players who walk in swinging. Treat them as set-piece encounters.
Scout from the doorway
Stand in the corridor and look into the room before entering. Identify spawner blocks, count the mobs you can see, and check for holes in the floor. If the room is dark, place a torch on the doorway block so you have a lit retreat point.
Control the entrance
Never fight in the open middle of a room. Back into the corridor or a corner so mobs can only approach from one direction. This turns a swarm into a queue.
Deal with spawners first
If a spawner is present, your priority is reaching and breaking it, not killing every mob. Light the area around the spawner as you push in, because light stops further spawns. Once the spawner is broken, mop up the remaining mobs at your leisure.
Carry an escape plan
Bring blocks to wall yourself in if a fight goes badly, and keep a water bucket or a clear lit path back to the surface. Do not let a room pull you deeper than your supplies allow.
Loot after the room is quiet
Only open chests and mine ore once the room is fully lit and cleared. Looting mid-fight is how players lose their inventory.
