How to Farm Ores Efficiently in Hopo Better Mineshaft

Because some Hopo Better Mineshaft room types are ore-rich while others are not, efficient mining means finding the right rooms and clearing them properly rather than digging randomly.

Prioritise ore rooms over corridors

When you enter a room, scan the walls and floor for exposed ore veins before you touch anything. Ore-focused rooms tend to have veins embedded in the walls and sometimes in raised platforms or pillars. Mine the visible ore first, then dig one block into the surrounding wall where a vein ends, since veins often continue just out of sight.

Bring the right tools and light

Carry a stack of torches and a spare pickaxe. Ore rooms can be large, and running out of light mid-room means mobs spawn in the sections you have not cleared yet. Light the whole room before mining so you can work without watching your back.

Do not skip the boring rooms

Non-ore rooms still contain rails, support beams, and chests. Rails and planks are worth collecting for your own builds, and chests in mineshafts can hold useful supplies. Clear them quickly, then move on.

Reset your expectations per room

If a room has no visible ore after a full sweep of the walls, leave it. Time spent digging blind in a mob room is time not spent in an ore room.
