Locate and Trade with a Prospector

Where to Find Prospectors

Prospectors spawn exclusively in Badlands biomes and underground cave systems. They're the rarest homesteader type, so exploration is key. Check cave networks thoroughly, especially those near Badlands terrain. Prospectors occupy distinctive mining-themed structures.

Claiming a Prospector

Once you find a Prospector's structure, note its location. If you want to establish a permanent trade route, craft a Prospector's Bench (their job site block) and place it near your base. A Prospector will eventually claim it, though this may take time.

Trading for Ores and Mining Goods

Prospectors offer ores, minerals, and mining-related items—invaluable if you're far from good ore deposits or prefer trading over mining. Their inventory includes rare materials that accelerate progression. Trade regularly to refresh their stock.

Pro Tip

If you're building near a cave system, place a Prospector's Bench entrance nearby. This gives you convenient access to mining goods without traveling to distant Badlands biomes.
