Create Time-Based or Action-Based Stage Unlocks

Understanding Unlock Methods

History Stages Mod offers multiple ways for players to progress. Research mode requires scrolls at a pedestal, but auto mode unlocks stages automatically when specific conditions are met—no pedestal needed.

Setting Up Auto Unlocks

In the stage editor, configure auto unlock triggers such as:

  • Item pickup: Stage unlocks when a player collects a specific item
  • Biome entry: Stage unlocks when a player enters a designated biome
  • Time played: Stage unlocks after players spend a certain amount of time in-game
  • Mob defeat: Stage unlocks when a player kills a specific mob type

Configuring Temporary Stages

Temporary mode opens a stage for a limited duration, then locks it again when the timer expires. This is useful for time-limited events or seasonal content. Set the duration in the stage editor, and the stage will automatically revert when time runs out.

Server vs. Individual Stages

Decide whether unlocks apply globally (all players unlock together) or individually (each player progresses independently). This choice affects how your progression feels and impacts multiplayer dynamics.
