Get Current Time and Environmental Data with Patterns
Time-Reading Patterns
Hexal includes patterns that query the current in-game time, allowing you to create time-dependent automation. These patterns return the day/night cycle information as readable data.
Using Time Data
Once you've cast a time-reading pattern, the returned data can be:
- Stored in linked wisps for later use
- Compared against specific times using comparison patterns
- Used to trigger spells only during certain hours (day-only smelting, night-only mob spawning, etc.)
Environmental Queries
Beyond time, Hexal patterns can gather other world information:
- Current weather conditions
- Light levels in specific areas
- Block and entity data from your surroundings
Building Time-Aware Systems
1. Cast a time-reading pattern to get current time
2. Use comparison patterns to check if time matches your condition
3. Execute conditional spells based on the result
For example, activate a Freeze spell only at night, or run smelting operations during the day. This creates sophisticated automation that adapts to the game world's natural cycles, reducing resource waste and improving efficiency.
