Locating Fireflies

Fireflies spawn naturally in warm, grassy biomes during dusk and night. Look for them hovering near the ground in areas with grass blocks and vegetation. They're most active in spring-themed biomes and near water sources.

Capturing Fireflies in Jars

Craft or find empty glass jars, then approach fireflies and interact with them to capture them. Once captured, fireflies remain inside the jar and emit a gentle ambient light. The jar's light level scales based on how many fireflies are contained—more fireflies mean brighter illumination.

Firefly jars are stackable, making them ideal for decoration or as portable light sources. Place them in your base, gardens, or pathways to create a natural, magical atmosphere. The dynamic lighting effect works best in darker areas where the soft glow becomes most visible.

Using Firefly Jars

Firefly jars can be placed on blocks like any other item and won't despawn. They're perfect for creating ambient lighting without relying on torches or lanterns, giving your builds a more organic feel. You can also carry them in your inventory for exploration.
