Stay Warm and Build Shelter

The blizzard never stops in Hardcore Winter, so your first priority is finding or building shelter with a solid roof. Cold damage builds up over time when exposed to the elements, so get indoors quickly.

Once sheltered, stay near heat sources like fires or carry a fueled lantern to prevent freezing. The lantern serves double duty—it provides warmth and light while also letting you block attacks by right-clicking to create a fire shield, though this drains fuel and weakens nearby enemies.

Don't attempt outdoor farming; crops die under open sky. Plant indoors or underground instead. Search underground areas for hidden items and survivor books that reveal more about the frozen world. Plan carefully, manage your fuel, and prioritize warmth above all else.
