How to Read Recipe and Custom Pages in a Guide-API Book

Standard recipe pages

When a page shows a crafting grid, treat it exactly like the crafting table: the pattern and positions matter unless the page is marked as shapeless. Hover any slot to see the item name. Furnace-style pages show one input and one output with a fuel slot if the mod uses one. Pages generated from the mod's recipe registry will always match what the game accepts, so if your craft fails, compare your grid slot by slot against the page.

Custom page types

Guide-API lets mod authors define their own page types, so you may see pages that are not recipes at all: diagrams, tables of values, lists of mobs, or interactive-looking layouts. These are drawn by the mod, not by vanilla, so they will not respond to clicks the way a recipe page does. Read them as static reference material. If a page shows a keybind, it displays your current binding rather than a hardcoded key.

When text looks wrong

Because content is generated from the mod's code and localization files, a page can look empty or garbled if a translation is missing or if a config value changed after the book was built. Close and reopen the book to force it to rebuild. If a page still looks broken, the issue is in the mod's own guide content, not in your game settings.
