Grind Herbs and Plants into Powders with the Mortar
Preparing Your
Mortar Station
The Mortar is a versatile grinding block for crushing plants, herbs, minerals, and crops into fine powders and dyes. Place it on any solid surface—no heat required for basic grinding.
Grinding Process
1. Place ingredients on the Mortar: Put your herbs, plants, crops, or minerals directly on top of the block.
2. Equip your
pestle: Hold a pestle in your hand.
3. Grind the material: Right-click the Mortar with the pestle. Each action grinds the ingredient further.
4. Collect the powder: Once fully ground, your result (powder, dye, or fine mineral) is ready to pick up.
Tips
- Different plants produce different powders and colors—experiment to discover all dye combinations.
- The pestle has durability; craft replacements as needed.
- Grinding is faster than crushing on a
Workstone but produces smaller quantities. - Use JEI or EMI to preview which plants yield which powders before grinding.
- The Mortar can also hold liquids for stirring recipes (see
ladle guide).
