Crush Ores and Ingots on the Workstone
Setting Up Your
Workstone
The Workstone is your primary manual crafting station for flattening metals and breaking down raw ores. Place it on solid ground in your base—it doesn't require a heat source.
Crushing Materials
1. Gather a hammer: Craft a hammer from flint, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite. Higher-tier hammers have better durability and process materials faster.
2. Place your ingredient: Put raw ore, ingots, or other crushable materials directly on top of the Workstone block.
3. Strike with your hammer: Right-click the Workstone with your hammer equipped. Each strike consumes durability and progresses the recipe.
4. Collect your result: Once fully processed, the flattened or crushed output appears on the block.
Tips
- Different materials require different numbers of hammer strikes—harder ores need more hits.
- Check your recipe in JEI or EMI to see exactly how many strikes each item needs.
- Hammer durability degrades with each use; repair or craft new hammers as needed.
- The Workstone works best as an early-game alternative to furnaces for processing ores into usable forms.
