How to Landscape a Large Area Quickly With Grass Seeds

Plan Before You Click

Converting a big region block by block is slow if you do it randomly. Walk the area first and decide which parts become grass, which stay as paths, and where tall grass will go. This saves you from wasting seeds on blocks you will dig up later.

Efficient Conversion

1. Fill your hotbar with seeds so you never have to open inventory mid-job.

2. Work in straight lines — walk backward along a row, right-clicking each dirt block's top face as you go.

3. Convert the ground layer first, then do a second pass to add tall grass where you want it.

4. Leave deliberate dirt or path blocks bare so the finished area has structure instead of being a flat green sheet.

Handling Uneven Terrain

  • On slopes, click each block's top face individually; you may need to adjust your aim on steps.
  • For hillsides, convert from the bottom up so you can always see the block you are targeting.
  • If a block refuses to convert, double-check it is plain dirt and not a variant.

Finishing Touches

Once the base grass is down, scatter tall grass in irregular patches, then add trees, flowers, or water features. The contrast between decorated and plain grass is what makes a landscape look hand-built rather than generated.
