How to Grow Tall Grass on Grass Blocks for Decoration

Why Grow Tall Grass

Tall grass is one of the cheapest ways to make a build look natural and lived-in. Instead of hunting for it in the wild, this mod lets you place it directly on any grass block you already have, which is perfect for landscaping gardens, meadows, and overgrown ruins.

How to Do It

1. Stand on or near a grass block you want to decorate.

2. Hold regular seeds in your active hand.

3. Right-click the grass block. A tall grass plant should appear on top of it.

4. Repeat on as many grass blocks as you like to build up a patchy, natural look.

Making It Look Good

  • Don't carpet every single block. Scatter tall grass in clusters and leave gaps so it reads as organic rather than tiled.
  • Mix in flowers or other plants afterward for variety.
  • Tall grass can be broken and will drop seeds, so a decorated area doubles as a renewable seed source for converting more dirt.
  • If you are decorating around paths, keep tall grass a block or two back from the walkway so it does not obscure the route.
  • Remember tall grass needs a grass block beneath it — if you converted dirt first, you are already set.
