How to Farm Seeds Sustainably for Grass Conversion
The Loop You Need
Every dirt-to-grass conversion and every tall grass placement costs seeds, so a large project will drain your supply fast. The good news is that the mod's own mechanics feed back into themselves: tall grass you grow drops seeds when broken, creating a renewable loop.
Setting Up a Seed Farm
1. Pick a flat area and convert the dirt to grass using seeds, following the basic right-click method.
2. Right-click those grass blocks with seeds to grow tall grass across the patch.
3. Break the tall grass by hand or with any tool. Each plant has a chance to drop seeds.
4. Replant by right-clicking the grass blocks again with the seeds you just collected.
5. Repeat. Over a few cycles your seed count grows instead of shrinking.
Scaling Up
- Make the patch as large as you can afford to seed initially; more grass blocks means more tall grass per harvest.
- Use a tool that breaks plants quickly so harvesting does not become tedious.
- Keep a dedicated chest of seeds near the farm so you always have a buffer before starting a big landscaping job.
- If you also have access to normal wheat farming, that provides another steady seed source to top up the loop.
