How to Use the Golden Feather to Boost Mining Speed
Why Haste Matters
The Golden Feather grants Haste for ten minutes, which increases your mining speed significantly. This is especially useful when you are strip mining, digging out a large area, or trying to gather resources quickly. Haste stacks with other efficiency boosts, so if you have an Efficiency-enchanted pickaxe, you will break stone and ores even faster. The Absorption effect also gives you extra hearts, which helps if you accidentally dig into a pocket of lava or fall into a mob-filled cave.
Mining Strategy
Eat a Golden Feather right before you start mining. The ten-minute timer is enough to clear a substantial tunnel or gather a full inventory of ores. Focus on valuable blocks like diamonds, iron, and gold while Haste is active, since you will spend less time per block. If you are mining in the Nether, the Slow Falling effect can save you if you accidentally step off a ledge into a lava lake, though it will not protect you from the lava itself. Bring multiple feathers if you plan to mine for longer than ten minutes. Pair the feather with a good pickaxe and plenty of torches for the best results.
