How to Move or Remove a Plant From a Pot Without Breaking the Pot

Taking the Plant Back Out

Gardener's Dream is mainly about putting plants in, but you will often want to reverse it — swap the flower, change the color scheme, or reuse the pot. The pot itself is a normal block, so the usual Minecraft interactions still apply.

1. Look at the potted plant and break the pot the normal way (left-click / hold attack). The pot and the plant both drop as items, so you keep everything.

2. Pick up the dropped pot and the dropped plant.

3. Place the pot down again and crouch-plant a different flower into it.

Swapping Flowers Quickly

If you just want a different flower in the same spot:

  • Break the pot, collect the drops, replace the pot, and crouch-plant the new flower.
  • Because the mod only changes the planting action, it does not add a separate "empty the pot" interaction. Breaking is still the way to clear a pot.

Tips for Builders

  • Keep a shulker box of empty pots and a stack of each flower you use often. Then you can redecorate a room by breaking and re-planting in seconds.
  • Decorated pots behave the same way as regular flower pots for this purpose, so the same break-and-replant loop works for both.

There is no way to pull the plant out with a bare hand while leaving the pot in place — plan on breaking the pot each time you want to change what is inside.
