How to Make a Two-Tall Flower Fit in a Single Flower Pot

Using the Crouch-Place Size Shortcut

Normally, tall flowers like sunflowers, lilacs, rose bushes, and peonies occupy two blocks of height. A flower pot is only one block tall, so vanilla Minecraft refuses to let you pot them. Gardener's Dream adds a way around this.

1. Hold the two-tall flower in your main hand.

2. Stand on top of an empty flower pot.

3. Crouch to place it. The mod detects that the plant is a two-tall flower and shrinks it down so it fits inside the single pot.

The result is a one-tall version of that flower sitting in the pot, which is perfect for windowsills, tables, and shelf decorations where a full-height flower would clip into the ceiling.

What to Expect Visually

  • The potted flower will look like a compact version of the original. It keeps the same texture and color, just at reduced height.
  • You cannot grow it back to two blocks while it is in the pot. If you want the full-size plant, break the pot or place the flower on soil instead.
  • The same crouch-plant action handles both normal and tall flowers, so you do not need a separate key or item.

This is the main reason many builders install the mod — it lets you use tall flowers as tabletop decor without command blocks or resource packs.
