Fixing Common Problems When Crouch-Planting Doesn't Work

Quick Troubleshooting Checklist

If crouching on a pot with a plant in hand does nothing, work through these in order.

1. Are you actually on top of the pot? The mod checks that you are standing on the pot block. Standing beside it, or on a block next to it, will not trigger planting.

2. Are you sneaking? You must hold your crouch key. A quick tap often is not enough — hold it while the placement registers.

3. Is the pot already full? An occupied pot cannot accept a second plant. Break the pot first to clear it.

4. Is the item in your main hand a plant? Tools, food, and building blocks will not plant. Switch to the flower or sapling you want.

5. Is the plant one the mod supports? Small flowers, tall flowers, saplings, and mushrooms are the typical candidates. If a specific plant refuses to go in, try it in a plain flower pot to confirm.

If It Still Won't Work

  • Try a different pot type. Regular flower pots and decorated pots are both supported, but confirm with the type you are using.
  • Make sure no other mod is overriding pot interactions. Mods that change right-click behavior on blocks can conflict.
  • Reload the world or restart the game if the behavior suddenly stops mid-session.

Once you know the crouch-on-top rule, planting becomes muscle memory and you can decorate a whole garden wall in a couple of minutes.
