Set Players on Fire Based on Conditions

Using Fire Effects in Rules

Beyond potion effects, effects.json can set players on fire based on various conditions like dimension, biome, time of day, or blocks they're standing on.

How to Implement

1. Open config/rfcontrol/effects.json

2. Create a rule with your desired conditions:

  • dimension: Trigger in the Nether or custom dimensions
  • biome: Apply in lava-heavy or volcanic biomes
  • block: Ignite players standing on hot blocks
  • time: Set fire during specific times of day

3. In the effects section, add a fire effect with duration

4. Specify damage or other parameters as needed

5. Save and reload your world

Practical Applications

  • Create environmental hazards in dangerous biomes
  • Implement damage mechanics for progression-locked areas
  • Add atmospheric effects to themed dimensions
  • Combine with other conditions for complex environmental storytelling
