Prevent Block Breaking in Restricted Areas

Controlling Block Break Events

The breakevents.json file lets you stop players from breaking blocks based on conditions like location, held items, or game stage.

Configuration Steps

1. Navigate to config/rfcontrol/breakevents.json

2. Create a rule with conditions that define where or when breaking is restricted:

  • dimension: Prevent breaking in specific dimensions
  • biome: Restrict breaking in certain biomes
  • block: Target specific block types
  • gamestage: Use Game Stages mod for permission-based restrictions

3. Set the action to deny or cancel the break event

4. Optionally add a message to notify players why they can't break the block

5. Save and reload

Practical Applications

  • Protect spawn areas from griefing
  • Lock progression by preventing block breaking until certain conditions are met
  • Create safe zones where only specific blocks can be broken
  • Combine with Game Stages for advancement-gated access
