How to Recycle Metal Items in a Furnace

What You Need

Any vanilla furnace works — you don't need a special block. Just have fuel on hand (coal, charcoal, planks, etc.) and the metal item you want to break down.

Step-by-Step

1. Place your furnace and open its interface.

2. Put your fuel in the bottom slot.

3. Put the metal-containing item in the top slot.

4. The recovered material appears in the output slot on the right.

5. Collect the result and repeat with more items.

The mod hooks into the standard smelting process, so anything that normally smelts still works — you're just adding extra valid inputs. You don't need to craft a new machine or unlock a recipe.

What You Get Back

Recovery is partial, not a full refund of the crafting cost. A bell smelts down to a gold ingot, a minecart returns an iron ingot, and smaller iron items like tripwire hooks yield iron nuggets instead of a full ingot. The general rule: the more metal an item contains, the better the payout. Bulkier items give ingots; small or thin items give nuggets.

Tips

  • Batch your smelting. Load several items at once so you're not waiting on one at a time.
  • Keep a chest of "junk" metal nearby — rails, hooks, and worn tools — so you always have fodder for the furnace.
