How to Create Variant Appearances

This resource pack lets you transform the look of certain items by renaming them. When you rename an item in an anvil or name tag, the pack detects the new name and displays a special variant texture instead.

For example, you can rename an emerald to make it appear as a different gemstone, or rename an ingot to display it as a stacked pile rather than a single bar. The item functions identically in recipes and crafting—only its appearance changes.

Inventory sprites remain 2D and classic, so renamed items still look familiar in your inventory and hotbar. This system lets you customize ore and ingot visuals without affecting gameplay.
