How to Reduce Lag Caused by Fresh Animations

Why It Can Be Heavy

Fresh Animations adds many more bones and moving parts to each mob, so the game does more work per entity. On low-end machines or in mob farms with hundreds of entities, this shows up as stuttering or low FPS.

Settings That Help

1. Lower your render distance, especially if you have large mob farms nearby.

2. Reduce the entity distance or entity render distance option if your version or performance mod exposes one.

3. Turn off fancy leaves, clouds, and other visual options to free up headroom.

4. Cap your framerate so the GPU is not maxed out constantly.

5. If you use performance mods, keep them updated; they often handle many animated entities better.

Managing Crowded Areas

Mob farms and villager trading halls are the worst offenders because dozens of animated entities render at once. Build farms away from where you spend time, or wall them off so they are outside your view. Reducing the number of entities in one spot helps more than any single graphics toggle.

If It Is Still Too Much

Consider using Fresh Animations only in worlds where you are not running massive farms, or accept a lower framerate in exchange for the visuals. There is no way to animate only some mobs without editing the pack yourself.
