What the Rare Variants Are

Beyond farm animals, Details sprinkles in rare, humorous monster reskins that appear randomly as you play. These are not separate mobs — they are alternate textures applied to existing hostile mobs when they spawn. Because the chance is low, you may play for a while before spotting one.

How to Increase Your Odds

• Explore at night and in caves. More hostile spawns means more rolls against the rare-variant chance.
• Build a mob farm. Any spawner or dark-room farm that produces lots of zombies, skeletons, or creepers gives you many chances per minute.
• Use a spawn egg in Creative. Spawning mobs repeatedly with eggs is the fastest way to cycle through variants until a rare one appears.
• Check spawners in dungeons and mineshafts. Continuous spawning from a spawner is ideal for variant hunting.

Important Caveats

Rare variants are cosmetic only — they have the same health, damage, and drops as the normal version. They do not persist as a separate entity type, so a rare zombie that despawns is gone for good. If you want to keep one, name it with a nametag or trap it in a boat or cage. As always, confirm Details is loaded above the main Fresh Animations pack, otherwise the rare textures will not appear at all.
