How to Get Muddy Pigs in Fresh Animations Details
Triggering the Muddy Pig Variant
Muddy pigs are one of the standout cosmetic variants added by the Details pack, and they spawn through two separate methods. The first is biome-based: when a pig spawns naturally in a swamp or similar damp biome, it has a chance to roll in as the muddy texture instead of the clean pink one. This means you do not need to do anything special — just explore swampy areas and watch the local pig population.
Using the Nametag Method
The more reliable way to force a muddy pig is with a nametag. Rename a nametag to the specific trigger word the pack uses, then right-click a pig with it. The pig will swap to the muddy texture and keep the name floating above it. Because the pack relies on the main Fresh Animations pack for the animation layer, make sure Details sits above it in your resource pack list or the muddy texture may not apply correctly.
Practical Tips
- Muddy pigs are purely cosmetic — they behave exactly like normal pigs for breeding, riding, and drops.
- If a pig refuses to change, check that no other resource pack is overriding the pig texture.
- Breed two muddy pigs and the babies may inherit the muddy look, giving you a whole muddy herd without more nametags.
- Combine with leads to walk your muddy pigs back to a swamp-themed pen for screenshots.
