Crafting and Placing a Scarecrow

Scarecrows are your defense against birds raiding your farm. Craft a scarecrow using the recipe available in your crafting menu, then place it in or near your crop fields. Position it where it has a clear line of sight to the areas you want to protect.

How Scarecrows Work

Once placed, a scarecrow creates a protective zone around your crops. Birds—including crows, ravens, and other foraging species—will avoid the area, preventing them from eating your seeds, wheat, and other planted blocks. The scarecrow is most effective when placed centrally in your farm.

Maintenance Tips

Scarecrows don't require fuel or maintenance, but they can be destroyed by hostile mobs or accidents. If your crops start disappearing again, check that your scarecrow is still intact. You may need multiple scarecrows for very large farms to ensure complete coverage.
