How to Tame and Ride a Dinosaur

Finding and Approaching Dinosaurs

Locate wild dinosaurs roaming in herds or alone throughout your world. Approach slowly and cautiously—sudden movements may startle them. Smaller or younger dinosaurs are generally easier to tame than large adults.

Gathering the Right Food

Different dinosaur species require different foods for taming. Carnivorous dinosaurs respond to raw meat, while herbivores prefer vegetation like seeds or crops. Have the appropriate food in your inventory before attempting to tame.

Taming Process

Approach the dinosaur and right-click while holding its preferred food. Offer the food repeatedly until the dinosaur shows signs of acceptance—typically indicated by visual changes or behavior shifts. Patience is key; taming may take multiple food offerings.

Riding Your Tamed Dinosaur

Once tamed, right-click the dinosaur to mount it. You can now ride it across the landscape. Use standard movement controls to direct your mount. Larger dinosaurs make better mounts for traversal, while smaller or aggressive species excel in combat situations. Keep your dinosaur well-fed to maintain its loyalty and performance.
