How to Observe and Understand Dinosaur Genetics
Identifying Genetic Traits
Each dinosaur in the mod has unique genetics that determine its appearance, size, and behavior. Look closely at your creatures—you'll notice variations in color, scale patterns, body size, and movement speed. No two dinosaurs are identical unless they share the same genetic parents.
Breeding for Desired Traits
Tame multiple dinosaurs of the same species and keep them well-fed near each other. When conditions are right, they will breed and produce offspring. The baby will inherit genetic traits from both parents, creating new combinations of size, color, and speed.
Selective Breeding
To develop specific traits, breed dinosaurs that display the characteristics you want. Over multiple generations, you can create a population with preferred genetics. Large, fast, or unusually colored dinosaurs can be selectively bred to strengthen these traits.
Observing Personality
Genetics also influence how dinosaurs behave in combat and how they interact with their environment. Some may be more aggressive, while others are calmer. Tamed dinosaurs with strong genetics make better mounts and combat companions.
