How to Identify and Catalog Fossils
Using Analysis Tools
The mod includes tools to identify what species or creature a fossil belongs to. Use an Analyzer or Identification Table to examine cleaned fossils and learn their classification. This reveals information about the prehistoric creature, including its name, size, and era.
Organizing Your Collection
Keep a catalog or journal of discovered fossils to track which species you've found. Group similar fossils together—all dinosaur remains in one area, marine creatures in another. This helps you identify gaps in your collection and plan future excavation expeditions.
Some fossils are rarer than others. Documenting your finds creates a sense of progression and helps you remember which biomes and depths yielded the best results for future fossil hunting trips.
