How to Make Fog React to Potion Effects

Why Use Effect-Based Fog

The mod can change fog behavior when a specific potion effect is active on you. This is popular for making blindness, night vision, or custom effects feel more dramatic, or for server minigames where fog signals a status. The rule ties a potion effect to a fog change, so the fog only shifts while that effect is on you.

Setting Up the Rule

Open the mod config and find the potion effect fog section. Add a new entry and choose the potion effect you want to trigger the change. Then set what should happen while it is active: you can alter fog density, change the fog color, or disable fog entirely. Save the entry. The mod now watches for that effect and applies your fog settings whenever it is present.

Testing the Effect

Reload the world, then give yourself the potion effect using your usual method, such as a potion, command, or beacon. Watch the fog change as the effect starts and revert when it ends. If nothing happens, confirm the effect ID matches the one you configured and that no global fog toggle is overriding it. Effect rules can conflict with biome or water settings, so test in a plain area first to isolate the behavior.
