Creating a Checkerboard Wool Wall Pattern
Planning Your Design
Decide on two contrasting wool colors from the 8-shade palette. High-contrast pairs like orange and cyan, or red and light blue, create the most striking checkerboard effects. Sketch out your wall dimensions before building.
Building the Checkerboard
1. Place your first wool color in a grid pattern (every other block horizontally and vertically)
2. Fill the gaps with your second wool color
3. Continue this pattern upward to your desired wall height
4. The fluffy 3D models will give each block visual separation, making the checkerboard pattern stand out clearly
Tips for Best Results
- Larger walls (at least 6×6 blocks) show the pattern most effectively
- Avoid using similar shades from the palette—the cleaner color range makes contrast easier to achieve
- The fluffy texture adds depth to each block, enhancing the visual pop of alternating colors
- Consider framing your checkerboard with a border of a third color for a polished look
