Set Up an Automated Dye Farm

Growing Plants for Dyes

Flowers and cacti are the foundation of dye automation. Break any flower or cactus to collect seeds and petals. Plant seeds in farmland or dirt blocks using the standard planting mechanic. Each mature plant yields petals when harvested.

Crafting Dyes from Petals

Once you've collected petals, craft them into dyes at a crafting table. Each petal type corresponds to a specific dye color—white petals make white dye, red petals make red dye, and so on. Gather petals from multiple plants to produce dyes in bulk.

Scaling Your Farm

To automate production, create large planting areas in biomes where flowers naturally spawn (most biomes except deserts). Use bone meal to accelerate growth. For cacti dyes, establish a separate farm in desert biomes. Consider using hoppers and composters to streamline petal collection if you have other mods installed that support automation.

Villager farmers in your world can also trade seeds or petals for emeralds, allowing you to purchase specific plant types if natural spawning doesn't provide them.
