Set Up Your First Fish Trap
Finding the Right Location
Fish traps only work in natural water biomes. Head to an ocean, river, or lake in your world. Artificial pools or small water channels you've dug yourself won't work—the trap needs to be placed in naturally generated water.
Placing and Baiting Your Trap
1. Craft a
fish trap using wood and string (or canvas if you have Farmer's Delight installed)
2. Wade into the water and place the trap fully underwater—it must be completely submerged to function
3. Open the trap's menu by right-clicking it
4. Place bread or crop bait into the bait slot
5. Walk away and let it work
Collecting Your Catch
Return after some time has passed. Open the trap menu again and collect the fish from the storage grid. The trap continues catching fish as long as bait remains inside and it stays underwater in a valid biome.
Tip: Bread works as a universal bait and catches random fish types. If you have specific crops, try them to see if they attract particular fish species.
