How to Change What Your Compass Points To

The Finder Compass works by cycling through different tracking modes. Each mode makes the needle point at something different—diamonds, strongholds, mob spawners, and more.

Using the Compass

1. Hold the Finder Compass in your hand

2. Right-click (or use your USE key) while holding it

3. The compass mode will change to the next available setting

4. Keep right-clicking to cycle through all modes your server has enabled

5. The needle will now point toward the selected target type

Reading the Needle

Once you've selected a mode, the needle points in the direction of the nearest matching block or structure. If the needle spins randomly, no targets of that type exist in the loaded world, or they're too far away.

Different servers may have different modes enabled, so the number of available settings varies. Common modes include Working Man's Mineables (ores), Adventuring Mode (strongholds), and Shiny Stones Mode (diamonds and precious blocks).
