Tame Your First Companion

Finding a Companion

Companions spawn naturally in your world. Search forests, plains, and villages during the day and night. Human companions (Steve and Alex) are rarer than monster variants, so explore different biomes to find the type you want.

Taming Process

Each companion type requires a specific item:

• Steve & Alex Buddies: Use cooked meats or prepared meals
• Zombie Buddy: Use Rotten Flesh
• Skeleton Buddy: Use Bone Meal
• Creeper Buddy: Use Gunpowder
• Wither Skeleton Buddy: Use a Wither Rose

Hold the correct taming item in your hand and right-click the companion repeatedly. You'll see red hearts appear above them as they warm up to you. Continue right-clicking until the hearts persist—your buddy is now tamed!

After Taming

Right-click your new companion to toggle between follow and stay modes. Green particles mean they're following you; black particles mean they're staying put. You can now equip them with armor, weapons, and food to prepare them for adventure.
