Keep Your Buddies Alive in Dangerous Situations

Prevent Sunlight Damage

Zombie and Skeleton Buddies burn in direct sunlight. Equip them with helmets, mob heads, or any head armor to protect them. During day exploration, keep them in your shadow or bring them underground.

Manage Health Proactively

Give your buddies stacks of food before entering dangerous areas. They eat automatically when damaged, but only if they're holding food. Cooked meats, prepared meals, and their preferred taming foods all work.

Use Totems of Undying

Equip your most valuable buddies with a Totem of Undying in their off-hand. When they take lethal damage, the totem activates once, saving their life. After use, the totem breaks and must be replaced.

Position Strategically

Human buddies draw monster aggression, so position them between you and threats. Keep Creeper Buddies away from other allies to avoid friendly fire explosions. Stay close enough to heal them with food if needed.

Retreat When Necessary

If your buddy's health drops critically and they have no food, switch to stay mode and retreat to safety. You can always return with better gear and healing supplies.
