Equip Your Buddy for Combat

Preparing Gear

Gather armor pieces, weapons, and tools you want your companion to use. Any standard Minecraft armor and weapons work—from leather to netherite, swords to axes.

Equipping Items

Right-click your tamed buddy while holding the item you want to give them. They'll equip:

• Armor pieces on their body
• Weapons in their main hand
• Tools in their main hand
• Mob heads on their head
• Off-hand items like Totems of Undying or Flint and Steel

Special Off-Hand Items

• Totem of Undying: Your buddy survives lethal damage once, then the totem breaks
• Flint and Steel or Fire Charges (human buddies only): They'll ignite enemies during combat, dealing extra damage

Food for Healing

Right-click your buddy with a stack of their preferred food. They'll hold it in their left hand and automatically eat to restore health when damaged during battle. Keep them well-fed before dangerous encounters.
