How to Set Up Zoom and Freelook Keys for PvP and Exploration

Zoom and Freelook are two of the most-used Feather Remake features, but they shine when bound to keys that fit your playstyle. Both are configured through the mod menu rather than vanilla controls.

Opening the mod menu

Press Right Shift to open the Feather menu. From here you can enable or disable Zoom and Freelook, and assign their activation keys. If a feature is off, its keybind will not do anything, so enable it first.

Binding Zoom

Zoom works like a smooth optical zoom — hold the key and the camera narrows in. Good choices:

  • A mouse side button, so you keep movement keys free.
  • A key near your movement hand that you can hold without stretching.

While zoomed, your sensitivity usually drops, which helps for lining up long-range shots or reading distant signs. Release to snap back to normal FOV.

Binding Freelook

Freelook detaches the camera from your character's body — you can look around while still running in one direction. This is invaluable for:

  • Checking behind you while fleeing.
  • Scanning for enemies without turning your hitbox.
  • Looking at builds from angles while walking.

Bind it to a comfortable hold key. Note that Freelook is optional and can be toggled off entirely if you prefer a vanilla camera. Test both binds in a safe area before relying on them in a fight.
