How to Strip Logs and Recover Bark on the Cutting Board

Placing and Using the Cutting Board

Place a Cutting Board (from Quark) on top of any solid block or on the ground, then right-click it to open its interface. Put the log you want to strip into the input slot. The board will show the resulting stripped log and any byproducts. Take the output, and the stripped log appears in your inventory while the bark is produced as a separate item. You do not need an axe for this — the cutting board handles the stripping itself, which is handy when you want to save tool durability or process logs in bulk.

What You Get Back

Every wood type behaves the same way: a log goes in, a stripped log and bark come out. The stripped log is the same block you would get from axe-stripping, so it works for building and crafting exactly as normal. Bark is the useful bonus — it can be used in place of logs in some recipes or saved up as a decorative and crafting material. Because the board returns both items, you effectively get more usable material per log than you would by stripping with an axe and discarding the bark.

Practical Tips

  • Keep a stack of logs and a Cutting Board near your base so you can strip on demand.
  • If a recipe is not appearing, double-check you are using an actual log block and not planks or a stripped log.
  • Bark stacks, so store it in a chest rather than dropping it — you will want it later for wood recycling recipes.
