How to Reduce Lag From Bushy Leaves in Dense Biomes

Understand Why It Lags

Bushy leaves render extra geometry per leaf block, so jungles, mangrove swamps, and large custom forests hit your GPU hardest. The pack is already optimized compared to heavier bushy packs, but dense foliage still multiplies the workload. The goal is to cut the number of leaf blocks on screen without losing the look.

Tune Video Settings

Open Options → Video Settings and lower Render Distance first, since it has the biggest impact on visible leaf count. Reduce Simulation Distance if your CPU is the bottleneck. Turn off Fancy Leaves-style options if your optimization mod adds them, and consider disabling clouds and entity shadows to free GPU headroom. Keep Graphics on Fancy so the bushy models still render.

Trim the World Around You

In jungles and swamps, clearing a small area around your base or path dramatically cuts leaf geometry. Avoid building inside unbroken canopy. If you use shaders, switch to a lighter shader profile or disable shader leaf waving, which adds per-vertex animation cost on top of the extra leaf faces. Test changes one at a time so you can tell which setting actually helped.
