Craft Your First String Lights

Gather Your Materials

Before crafting, you'll need string (or rope), dye in your chosen color, and light sources. String can be obtained from spiders or crafted from wool. Dyes come from flowers, plants, or other natural sources throughout your world.

Create the Light String

Open your crafting table and combine your string with dye and a light source block (like glowstone or lanterns). The mod uses a custom crafting interface that lets you preview your design before committing. Arrange the components in the crafting grid according to the pattern shown—typically string forms the base, with dyes and lights added along its length.

Hang Your Lights

Once crafted, you'll have a string light item in your inventory. To place it, you need two anchor points—these can be blocks, fences, or other solid structures. Right-click on your first anchor point, then right-click on your second point to stretch the lights between them. The string will sag naturally and sway when you walk through it, creating that cozy, dynamic feel the mod is known for.
