Checking Whether Fabric Language Kotlin Is Safe to Remove

Players often spot Fabric Language Kotlin in their mod list, see that it adds nothing they can use, and assume it is bloat. Removing it is safe only under one condition: nothing else depends on it.

Identify Dependents First

Before deleting anything, scan your mod list for mods that are written in Kotlin. These are typically mods whose pages mention Kotlin, or mods that crashed with Kotlin errors when you first installed them. Any such mod will fail to load the moment the library disappears.

Test Removal Safely

Move the Fabric Language Kotlin jar out of the mods folder into a temporary folder rather than deleting it outright. Launch the game. If every mod loads and the main menu appears normally, nothing depended on it and you can leave it out. If the game crashes with a Kotlin class error, close the game and move the jar straight back.

When to Keep It Regardless

Keep the library if you plan to add Kotlin-based mods later, since reinstalling it is trivial but forgetting why a mod broke is not. Also keep it if you run a modpack — pack authors include it deliberately, and removing pieces of a curated pack frequently breaks other mods in ways that are hard to trace.
