How to Grow Nether Wart with Bone Meal in the Nether
Nether Wart Basics
Nether wart only grows on soul sand and is normally slow, advancing through a few stages before it is ready to harvest. Extended Bone Meal lets you fertilize nether wart, so you can speed up or instantly finish it. This is a huge help for brewing, since nether wart is the base for almost every potion.
Steps
1. Go to the Nether and find or make a soul sand patch. Nether wart must be planted on soul sand, not on regular dirt or farmland.
2. Plant the nether wart on the soul sand.
3. Use Bone Meal on the nether wart. It will advance its growth.
4. To finish it instantly, hold sneak and use Bone Meal on it, just like with overworld crops.
5. Harvest the mature nether wart and replant for a continuous supply.
Building a Wart Farm
- Make rows of soul sand with a one-block gap so you can walk between them.
- Bring plenty of Bone Meal, since the Nether has no easy compost source nearby.
- A skeleton farm in the overworld is the most reliable way to stock Bone Meal before a Nether trip.
- You can also grow wart in the overworld if you bring soul sand back, but the mod's Nether support means you can farm it right where you find it.
With a steady Bone Meal supply, nether wart becomes a fast, renewable resource for all your brewing needs.
