Do You Need Event Wrapper Mod?

What this mod is

Event Wrapper Mod is a library, not a content mod. It adds no blocks, no items, no mobs and no recipes, and installing it will not change anything you can see in game. Its whole job is to give mod authors one set of event handling code that works on both Forge and Fabric, so a developer does not have to maintain two versions of the same mod.

That makes the answer for a player short: you only need it if a mod you are already installing asks for it.

How to tell whether you need it

A mod that depends on a library will say so. Check, in this order:

  • The Requires box on the download page of the mod you actually want. Required libraries are listed there by name.
  • The mod's own description or changelog, which usually names its dependencies.
  • The game itself. If a library is missing, the loader stops before the world loads and names what it wanted — you do not have to guess.

If none of those mention Event Wrapper Mod, installing it does nothing for you. Adding libraries "just in case" only makes your mod folder harder to debug later.

If you do need it

Drop the jar in the same mods folder as the mod that asked for it, and keep the two on the same Minecraft version. A library built for one game version will not load on another.

If you play on a server, install it on both sides unless the mod that needs it is client-only. A library is loaded by the mod that uses it, so it has to be present wherever that mod runs.

For mod authors

The developer-facing material — wrapper types, annotations, cancelling events, migrating existing Forge listeners — is maintained by the mod's own author rather than here. Use the project's own documentation and source, which will always match the version you are building against.
